this could be the FAP filter in the exhaust, think there was a thred about this a while ago, how many miles has the 307 done? it could be time for a costly new filter?

It could be an EGR valve.

what is a 'EGR valve'?
hope you can help me track down this fault. many thanks happy xmas if you celebrate. andyh

Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve, it puts watste gases from the exhaust back into the engine to reduce emissions. they go on HDIs
