 Pugs to the Lakes 2010
« Thread Started on Oct 10, 2009, 5:22pm »

Hi
hope you dont mind me plugging a Lakes Driving Tour I am organising. I have posted this on most Pug boards and have had some good interest. After 3 days on the message boards we have 13 cars including 205, 206, 309, 306 so far. I would like to see as much variety on this tour as possible including if possible some of the classics. Its not a blast through the hills more of a scenic tour with plenty of photo stops and of course the obligatory pub lunches. :P

Anyway ths is it you're all more than welcome to join us for the whole weekend or pickone of the tours and join us for the day. Either way the more the merrier.

Well, thought I would get this one up early so we can all book our diaries up and get your week-end passes in at home.

Planning on the second Lake District trip and hope it's as succesfull as the first. Some superb scenery to take in and a few good nights out in Bowness to boot. Just make sure this year we book up for a saturday evening meal as the place was heaving last year and we found it difficult to get somewhere to eat.

Thinking along the lines of arriving Friday morning and taking a coastal tour up the West coast taking in Barrow, Broughton, Ravenglass, Seascale, Workington and up to Maryport. Come back toward Bowness then through thingyermouth, Keswick, past Thirlmere, Grasmere, Ambleside then back into Bowness.

On the Saturday more of a challenging tour to take in some good steep, twisty drives along as many of the passes as I can fit in. Mainly Wrynose, Hardknott, Kirkstone, and Honister. Make sure your clutch and brakes are up to scratch before taking this on!

Thinking of using the same hotel as last year and if we book up quickly (no deposit required) on-line we could potentially take over the B & B. Believe me its a good one, I think the others who stayed last year will agree the location is superb.

Those wishing to stay over for a night or two follow this link and get the reservation in early. All single rooms now booked only doubles available. That said there ar some cracking other B & B's in Bowness and booking this early will give you a good chance of getting the scarce single rooms.

Of course for those more local just turn up on the day, more details will come up closer we get.

Here's a few shots from last year to whet the appetite and lets get the numbers in. The last trip we did through North Wales had a convoy of 14 pugs trundling through the hills, it was superb.
