I am changing a right hand driveshaft on my 205 STDT. It is pretty well impossible to avoid damaging the gearbox oil seal as the shaft comes in and out of the diff. Early oil seals had a removable plastic guard to prevent damage from the shaft splines ... new oil seal has no guard, so a different method has to be used to avoid splines damaging the seal. Haynes suggests using a bit of greased plastic sheet as a substitute guard, but this seems a bit fiddly. Has anyone found a better method? Merry Xmas to all

It depends where you buy the oil seal, some have the plastic bit others do not.I get mine from GSF and they normally have the plastic bit. Any way as long as everything is greased and you insert the shaft carefully and inline you should not have a problem.
