Hello After several years away from classic cars, I've returned to the fold with a '72 304 Cabrio (pre-S model). I wasn't particularly looking for a 304, but usually have a soft top for the summer, so it fitted the bill perfectly. The car came with a pile of history and was restored in 1992 when it was the subject of a Your Classic article. I collected it from South London on Thursday and drove it the 110 miles home to Northamptonshire via London traffic, M25 and M1 with no problems. However a puddle of oil underneath now tells me I may have overdone it, reinforced by a browse through the MoT history that shows it had only done 150 miles from 2010 till when I picked it up.... I expect I'll be back for advice, although I shall have to find a local garage to entrust with repairs, as nowadays I have neither the time nor inclination to get too "stuck in" as well as having two classic bikes in bits. Cheers Nick

Make sure the garage know what they're doing. It is a bit of a strange engine set up. Get an old school mechanic on side! Im sure it'll just be teething troubles.

Thanks Dave I know a few classic car owners locally, so will ask for recommendations.

Nice car, the oil leak should be not too hard to solve.

Oil leak solved Mike, it was a not-tight-enough sump plug. Also identified an incorrect thermostat, so now it runs less hot, if not exactly cool.
I intend to get it as near perfect mechanically as I can and enjoy it during the summer then decide what cosmetic work to do over the winter.
