Hi Folks,
I'm intrigued, did anyone else buy a peugeot with a HPi engine in it?
They were in supply around 01-02 and possibly 03, before the engine was pulled because peugeot lost the patent.
If you did buy a car with this engine how many miles have you put on it and what sort of issues have you had with the engine?
Heres mine...
Service - had to wait till the main dealer got a tool from France to change the spark plugs!
30K - Crank shaft pulley went
MOT - Failed due to emissions! - turned out the car was not listed with the DVLA and therefore no appropriate emissions test was available.

That last one's a bit of a low blow. How did you get round that?

Took it to the main dealers for a second MOT, and when they said it had passed didn't ask too many questions Looking at the report I reckon they'd run the engine and the test for nearly 20 minutes it was certainly hot. They'd actually rung Swansea to find out what on earth they were meant to do. Swansea's response was we'll be putting that car on the list sometime in october! The irony is, is that the HPi engine is meant to be leaner and greener, than its alternate petrol rivals. After a second conversation with the dealer they admitted that the only other HPi engine they had seen had been in with a broken camshaft pulley, also at under 30,000 miles!
