Hi all, Interested to know what the most amount of cash you've all spent on your cars in one go?
Be it mechanical failure or restoration etc..
I've been quite lucky I guess in that I've never had to shell out for anything more than service items such as radiators and alternators! ;D

I think with restoring the 504 it was 5 new tyres...... although I think so far I've spent over a grand over a period of 1 1/2 years. The future will be another engine at some point, although there is nothing wrong with the current one it leaks oil and its an engine out job to do, so I might as well do one up on the bench first. The big one will really be a respray, couple of grand I suppose for a spanking job?

Amazes me how most people think running any classic car will cost the earth. In reality they can be a sound investment without depreciating like modern cars do..

Apart from the restoration on the Ti (don't think that can count as the MOST EXPENSIVE FAULT ON YOUR PEUGEOT) the biggest outlay has to be the rebuild of the injection system just 6 months after restoring the car. l saw little under £30 change from a grand for this one. The new fuel injectors alone cost just under £400 for the 4. The cheapest bits by far have to be the cost of labour and rebuild of the pump itself. Postage to and from Nottingham Diesel by the way cost £40 and l was taking no chances so it went 24hr insured. l have now brought myself a second fuel pump should anything go wrong with this one and no...it isn't for sale.
A dedicated 504 Ti owner....you bet your bottom dollar l am. I'm also a crazy fool too.

Clutch slip at 20k miles. Common on 90 HDi derivatives with the solid flywheel.
Riverside Pug wanted £600 for a notoriously week OE item, a local independant wanted £330 for a reputable LUK HD item with the same warranty. Guess where my money went?

Cam Shaft pulley at 30K luckily under warranty, otherwise I was looking at £350 for the pulley alone, dread to think what the fitting costs would have been.

I'm compiling a list, and I'll be looking for donations!
607s?
Great cars, but parts prices/labour - good grief!
I'll be tin-rattling shortly.
Mike.
