We have had our 207 for 2 months. The gear lever has jammed in neutral on a couple of occasions and we have had to be recovered back to the dealer by the AA. We are told by the dealer that a batch of 207's has a gear selector problem and that Peugeot have worked out a fix for it, that requires a new part. Unfortunately it is currently on back order and we are looking at a 3 week wait in total. We have a courtesy car, but would prefer to have our own. Anybody else have similar problems? I am told that some owners have expereienced problems with the gear lever going from 5th to 4th, but this is blamed on driver error. Strangely enough our courtesy car also does this! I wonder if Peugeot have got another quality problem on their hands ?

the problem with them is that it was set up for left hand drive, if you get the passenger to change gear for you it is fine. there was a problem with the adjustment but they have sorted that out, and i have done a few of these.

Thanks Frank. My dealer thought they had fixed the problem the first time, with a new clip and re-adjusting the cables. After the second failure they seem to have ordered in a replacement selector mechanism, although I do not know what this comprises. Is this the part you have had to replace, or have I got a bigger problem? How long should I expect to wait for this part to come from the factory?
Thanks

Just to update this story, the new gear selector mechanism failed to solve the porblem and our car continued to jam in neutral. We finally managed to get the attention of the Sevice Manager and, after consulting with Peugeot, have been told that a new gearbox is required. At the suggestion of the Service Manager we have refused the car, and a new one has been ordered for us, with a 10 week wait. We have got a courtesy car on long term loan.
However we have now been told that Peugeot might insist that we actually have the old car back with a new gearbox, but I think we have the Sale of Goods Act on our side in this case. We await the outcome.
