Hello all!
I am Mike Tippett and I live on Vancouver Island at the far western side of Canada. I have a 1966 404 Coupé Injection in Arosa white, with the Nardi floor shifter. My car's serial number is 4598609 and its body (Carrosserie) number is 10758. My car was sold new in early 1967 in Brampton Ontario Canada. I am the car's third owner.
I and Michel Verdier of the Club 404 in France are conducting a worldwide inventory of known 404 Coupé and Cabriolet cars throughout the world. The way that we are assuring ourselves that each car entered into the inventory is unique (no multiple entries for the same car) is by listing the cars according to serial number.
To date, we have established that there are at least 1301 (one thousand three hundred and one) 404 C cars whose whereabouts are known today. So we have been reasonably successful, with over 7.5% of all 404 C cars that were ever made accounted for. However, we know that there are more out there and this is why I am posting this new thread here at Club Peugeot UK. We need your help!
I am aware that 404 C cars are quite rare in Britain, but from the 404 introduction page on this website, some photos here, posts in the 04 forum and other photos of cars with British license plates seen over the years, I know they are out there.
So, if you have a 404 Cabriolet or a 404 Coupé, please assist us by either posting the following information here in this thread, or by sending it to me by email or private message. The collection of personal information is not all important to this exercise, so all we need to know is what country the car is in (unless you wish to offer up more specific locational information like county or city), plus the following:
If you don't own one of these cars but know of someone who does, please spread the word.
If anyone would like to see a copy of the present list (which only shows basic information on the cars - serial number, body number, body type, engine type, country), send me an email and I will be prepared to consider sharing that with you.
You can upload your car's information electronicaly, with a photo, at the following website: smrtash.ca/proj/c404/addinfo-en.html
Thanking you very much in advance for your assistance,
-Mike

- 7 digit serial number (on constructor's plate under the bonnet)
- Carrosserie Peugeot Number (on a painted metal tag near the constructor's plate - careful, what looks like an "S" is actually an "8"
- colour of the vehicle's exterior
- colour of the interior
- general condition of the vehicle
- equipment or accessories (e.g. Hard top, wire wheels, Nardi shifter, Jaeger sports instrument panel)
- any other relevant information
