Hi Folks,
My name is Nigel Boothman and I'm the features editor for Practical Classics Magazine. I'm looking for a 1980 504 to use in a photoshoot of cars built in the year our magazine was founded (25 years ago now) but which are regarded as classics these days.
It's a bit short notice, but I'm hoping someone might be free to come along with a car for a whole day sometime in the next fortnight. The location will be somewhere in central England (as yet unconfirmed) and we'll pay petrol and food costs for the day.
If you think you can help, please email me: nigel.boothman@emap.com or call my direct line, 01733 468378.
I learned to drive in a 504 Familiale and I'm looking forward to having a go in a another one. Great cars...
Thanks very much!
Nigel.

Hello Nigel, Welcome to the forum!
Sorry my 504 is 1978 a couple of years too old for you, but Keith Moody has the details/story etc! Good luck, its a great mag.
Mat.

Hi Mat,
Keith does indeed have the pics; I think you're in Readers' Cars in the next issue. I'm going to use a 1978 model as it turns out – I haven't been offered any 1980 cars and there's a guy called Stewart from south London with a very smart Ti who's volunteered to come along. Apparently they didn't change at all between '78 and '80, so the readers will have to be satisfied with that!
Thanks for the reply,
Nigel

Maybe that is Stuart Birds blue Ti? another CPUK member. Should be a good line up you have. Mat.

Yes, that's Stuart's one. Since it was the first 504 saloon ever to win the overall 504 cup at the CPUK annual rally (usually the preserve of the cabs and coupe's) it's safe to say its a spanking example. Lets hope the 504 holds up well against the competition in the artical.

I'll be interested to see if they find all examples of Peugeots available at the time, must be 104, 305, 504, 505, 604, although was 304 still available in UK, I know it was in France. The 604 would have only had its Turbo Diesel engine for a year then, first passenger car in Europe with a blower! Noticed the other day 104 production didn't finish in France until 1988!
