Hi fellow Pug owners. I am looking for a little help. My 405 1.9i 8v 1990 engine is no longer living. I am looking for a piston and liner set and was wondering whether anyone could point me in the right direction. It doesn't need to be a peugeot made spare. I live in Christchurch New Zealand and have been unable to get a reasonable price (about $2800 dollars here) I have heard that piston and liner sets are between 200 and 300 pounds? any help would be much appreciated. Cheers and Gidday from NZ

You could do worse than visit www.peugeotparts.co.uk and drop them a line. They do world wide mail order for stuff. They normally have everything I'm after and my pug's quite rare. Do mention us here as sending you. Dean's (the owner) a club member.

Sorry to bring up an olde thread but I didnt think standard 405 pistons could be purchased. I know this sounds odd but I've had two rebuild quotes for my Mi (dont know how different the pistons are) and neither included the pistons due to difficulties in getting them. I do know of one guy who paid about 1k for a set of custom pistons to take his Mi out to a 2.3/2.4 (using the later iron block). Can anyone confirm this as it seems a little odd?

I dont know the situation at the moment with XU9 pistons from Peugeot.
You used to be able to get them as a piston & liner kit from Peugeot, But seeing as the XU9J2 & XU9J4 all alloy wet liner engines where discontinued in 1993 & the XU10J2 & XU10J4 cast iron lumps came out thats probably now changed.
