I have a 1993 205 GTi, and decided to upgrade the headlights to Bi-Xenon HiD's. I have fitted these kits before with good results, and decided to have conventional 4300K light output. The only problem I have, is that when switching the lights on with the engine off, the side lights and headlights work as they should, but with the engine running, the headlights come on with the sidelights. I can't select just sidelights! Again, this only happens with the engine running. I have checked the HiD kit's wiring, and all is connected as should be, complete with supplied relay. Not sure why this happens? Would anyone have any ideas why this is happening, or what I can check for.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

Are they simply plugged in place of the headlamp bulbs?
You need to power them directly from the battery via a suitably fused supply. You then need to switch them on/off using the feed from the existing headlamp bulb connectors which then powers up a relay. A generic aftermarket fog lamp relay'll do the job. Should be straightforward on a non multiplexed car.

I know this is an old topic but the answer is not 100%
The 205 has a dim dip set up, meaning that even when you just turn on the side lights the dip comes on as well but using a resistor so it is dim.
The O.P could over come the problem by removing the resistor. normal found under the near side head light behind the bumper.
