who has told you that then jord?? if i remember correctly i think it was natural plastic, ie not painted i currently have the panel painted black, (how it was when i bought the car) but according to original brochures it looks like it is a natural finish thing is though, the spare o/e new panel i have is smooth plastic and a mate of mine who has an '86 309 gle, has a textured finish which kind of matches the finish of the bumpers so if you can help, i'm after another panel 7247.05 thanks

Welcome!
Why not join CPUK itself rather than just the forum? Then, you'll be able to come along to our events & show your fantastic car to an appreciative group of fellow members.
Did you go to the 309 anniversary meeting in Alsace last year?

Did you go to the 309 anniversary meeting in Alsace last year? thanks, but i can't justify spending the money to join at the mo car wasn't quite ready to go to 309 anniversary, as i had to change the gearbox and suspension for something more user friendly ;D
