Hi,
Ive got a cracking little 205 xs, which im constantly trying to get more out of. The bearing in the gearbox are giving up the ghost and to be honest, i don't want to faff about fitting new bearings, i just want to get a reconditioned gear box..... Oh i forgot to mention its got the SR gearbox instead of XS.
Does anyone know if i could bolt on a 1.6GTi gearbox? I dont want to go and get one if its not going to fit. Also i've seen debates about the XS and SR gearboxes, which one is really better?!
Any help i would be muchly greatful, Ta =)

I`m sure the 205XS has a TU engine & MA gearbox set up.The 205GTi has a XU engine & BA gearbox and the GTi box will not bolt on to a TU engine.I think that any MA box, Peugeot or Citroen around that year will fit your 205.

Yeah, that makes sence. Do you know much about the SR and XS gear boxes? I've heard that the XS is a better box, but the my uncle (who owned it before me) says he put in the SR as the gear ratios are better?! Cheers for your help so far

They are all MA boxes its just the ratio`s will be different for every type of TU engine. As the XS is the "sports" model I would suggest you fit a XS type gear box.
