Is there any way of retrofitting air conditioning to my 504 automatic (1973)? A local specialist has looked into using parts from a more modern car (Renault Megane), but decided it's too risky – the necessary alternations would be too drastic. He's not even certain of success with genuine 504 parts.
There's a car in Australia with the combination I want – RHD, auto, air con; but it's not run for some years, and I'm not sure I could persuade the seller, as he has a local buyer who wants it for parts.
Can it be done, or is this an impossible dream?
Thanks!

BRILLIANT! Without even joining the Australian forum I found this link: www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95822It includes further links, and the thread is dated March 2012; so the parts it refers to should still be obtainable. I've forwarded this information to my local expert, and will report back if anything exciting happens. I now feel much more hopeful :-)

US dealers had a 504 A/C kit in the seventies, but one of these kits made you lose the glovebox!@
