Hi all
I need a bit of advice I have an Astra on an 03 plate a month out of warranty the fuel pump went £2300 I have had it for 9 years it is spotless throughout and done 30 k miles, come to start it last week it would crank but not fire so back to the main dealer they are not sure if it is the pump or ECU or both at the worst it £5k worth and the car is not worth it. My nextdoor who is 78 said he uses his 406 diesel estate once a month to get his shopping and dog food and said I could use that till I got sorted, my first ride it sounded like the old Triumph trunion bushes had gone or an engine mount broke. I pulled the front wheel off and found a tie rod connecting to the A roll bar the ball joint shattered, it took and hour to get one fit it and it drives like a dream the only other issue is the drivers seat is broken, can anyone tell me how I remove the seat so I can weld the bar back. I was so impressed with the car if the Vaushall is dead I would have no hesitation in getting a new Peugeot far superior than the astra estate and since this has done 250k it seems a lot more reliable . I asked the old boy what the symbols on the stalkes ment he said I only drive it use the lights, wipers and horn so any information on the functions on the stalks. I put a code scanner on the car and it came up fuel pump which tied up with what he said that the pump had been replaced a few months back
any advice greatful
