Could anyone recommend someone who could help me strip and refurbish the front hub and suspension units from my 1980 304 estate? I've got the subframe off and separated, but the hub assembly is baffling me! I think the manual suggests using a special tool, but I obviously haven't got that either. I will also need to get the rear beam refurbished at some point - is that the same as doing a 205? The car itself is currently at a local restoration shop (for the body) and I hope it will be ready for next summer Thanks in advance, Simon

Hi Simon. There is a special socket to remove the lower arm and ball joint but it may be possible to do it with a blunt chisel. Also the discs need removing with a puller. The spring and shocker insert can be removed using standard tools.
What is it that you're doing to the hub?

Good stuff - I managed to get the spring and top mount off the damper, so just have the damper and hub assembly to get apart - it all looks very confusing and not like the 205 I've done before. The main aim is to get all the parts disassembled, cleaned and painted and then rebuilt with fresh discs.

I think you need a puller to remove the discs but don't quote me. When I did mine I just worked around the discs. Chisel the ball joint grease nipple cap off and you'll see the nut that bolts it to the stub axle. You may be able to make a socket to fit it by angle grinding one to fit.
