More familiar with old Land Rover 4x4s came across a French Factory built Grandin 'Jeep' based almost entirely on 205 running gear.
I'm hoping that someone with more knowledge of the 205 engine might be able to offer some advice? It has a Solex manual twin choke carburettor and will start, however at idle speed it is 'lumpy' to the point that removing a plug lead makes little difference. Opening up the throttle it will rev and seems to run smother, however its not 100%. Another identical carburettor has been substituted but made no difference to any of the symptons. I have a 'free Haynes' book but really need a diagram of the plug lead connections to the distributor cap to make sure that they are on correctly.
The vehicle has been stood for some time so its possible its been 'explored' by others? Any other advice on possible reasons for poor running appreciated, - usual fuel filter, fuel pipes, new fuel and new plugs already tackled.

www.dallas-club.eu/jeep-dallas.php#I`ve never heard of these so I did some research and came up with the above club. They are a bit of a mixture, special body on a Renault chassis with Peugeot engines and they are called a Dallas. If your model is pre 1988 it will have a XYB engine from the Peugeot 104ZS,in 1988 they had the more modern TU3S engine. As for your problem,it all depends which engine you have as they are completely different.Which ever? I would check simple stuff first, plugs and leads, remove the distributor cap and check the carbon brush? I`ve known them burn away which will cause a miss-fire.Check for an air leak in the inlet manifold? make sure the vacuum pipes are fitted correctly and not split? Last resort give it a compression test to see if you have "four good ones" ?
