Hi you lucky guys out there with a 304 on the road - mine is a basic shell I am starting to rebuild
How is the heater with the roof down - should I upgrade to something like an MGB heater whilst I can easily get to it.
Any ideas where to go for a carpet / underlay set
Best regards
Pat

Hi Pat. I think it's a myth that a 304 exists on the road to be honest! Haha Firstly, the heater is rubbish. The engine runs at a pretty low temp so it never gets that hot. Not fit mine yet but I've had the heater matrix re-cored using larger veins. Make sure the cables to the valve are adjusted to a max. Make the heater box air tight too. I used adhesive foam for mine. Another option is to fit a ceramic heater but be careful as they draw a lot of current and a bit of a fire risk. The 304 heaters aren't very good but better than an MGB heater. I've had a couple of them too! As for carpets, I'm going to get some wool carpets tailor made from here... www.carcarpets.co.uk/They require a paper template making and sending before they'll give a price though. They do all the bit such as underlay, heelmats, piping etc. Let me know if you use them. Wouldn't mind a price and see the quality. Good luck and merry christmas!! Dave

BTW - I've had the samples for carcarpets. Don't get the cheap carpet. It's nylon and horrible. There's not much difference between the medium and top quality stuff. For the price per square meter I'd get the top stuff.

Thanks for that inspired vote of confidence on the heater - they were obviously made for the south of France. Will get quote from carcarpets when I get the car back in the new year - it's away having a bargain respray

The heater matrix was done by my mate John at Wakefield Radiators. Think it cost £80 to re-core. I can dig his number out if you want it.
Fingers crossed for a good summer next year!!
