Hi
My wife's 106 diesel (1.4 N reg) has stopped heating the cabin. I have changed the thermostat (cos it's cheap and easy) and bled the system thouroughly but to no avail. I suspect the heater matrix is blocked but one thing that Haynes doesn't make clear is whether there is a valve controling the heating or if it's just done by controlling the airflow. I can hear a thump as I change the heat lever which sounds like an air control moving. If I've got to get at a valve does the dash have to come out as Haynes seems to indicate?
Thanks

try removing your radiator or header cap then start it, if the heater then works, it your cyl. head or the gasket, best postion car facing uphill regards dean hunter of www.peugeotparts.co.uk

Thanks. The car isn't losing water and there's no sign of mayonaisse so I don't think it's the gasket. I will try it but I did do something similar when refilling the system and there was no result. The heater apparently worked for a few seconds the other night which points to a blockage or air lock.
Do you know if there is a valve?

Tried the cap removal trick. No difference.

Are the hoses to the heater getting hot? The input one should. If not it could be an airlock. I would try running the engine warm, opening the rad cap carefully and squeezing the big radiator hoses to see if that releases air.
