Hi
I have a 1998 306 1.8 16v with 72,000 on the clock that has recently started from tim to time cutting out at low revs. The engin runs perficly fine as long as I keep the revs above 1000 rpm.
When this happens it is state of from starting and will perist for 10 to 30 mins. Once it has settled down it will be fine for serveral days. I have also found if i break hard it some times clears the problem.
I have replace the plugs, air filter and fuel filter. Cleand all electrical connections on the sensers on the engin. Checked the belt tention and altanator out put. All rubber feul lines were replaced 11 months a go. Cheched the cutout switch as this has given problems in the past.
I beleave i have rouled out everything on the ignition system and fuel system. So I am enclined to think that the problem may be to do with the throtal sensor housing and the engin is being starved of air.
Befor I start to dimantel the throtal housing I would like to ask if any of you have encountered this problem and have any solutions for it.

I had something identical with my previous 1998 2.0l 406 Coupé. When I went the local Peugeot garage, I was told that it was a malfunction of an engine speed sensor used for the variable power steering. I was told that water was running along the cable feeding the sensor and droplets were stagnating at a connection point. The garage told me they fixed the problem by re-routing the cable so that water would no longer run down along the wire. Intox or not, I don't know, but there you go...

...or as you seem to suspect, the good old mass airflow sensor, bane of several injected pug engines!
