hi, i need to know what is the relay AMPs rating for the power steering. i have the relay in the fuse box, this i don't need. it is the relay near the EPS motor (electric power steering) i need to know about. i know the EPS motor works as i closed the circuit with a wire and the power steering kicked in. the relay in the fuse box is 4 pins 12v 25amps. the relay near the EPS is also 4 pins and obviously 12v. i bought a 25 amp relay and it didn't kick in? any ideas please. Also, where can i get an explanation of my instrument panel. i have a warning light which looks like a pump, i think, or a strange looking tap. BIGGGGG THANKX IN ADVANCE

hi, the p.a.s pump takes a massive amount of current, 80amps'ish (50-100 depending on load). Bridging the big side of the relay makes your pump run but do you know if the small side is ok?? You should have a permenant earth on one wire and the other should go live (12v) when the engine's running. This live comes directly off the small terminal on the alternator and an alternator fault will stop the steering working while not always putting the batt. light on. Hope this helps.
Regards Andy

hey andy, thankx for taking time out to reply. i have an update. unfortunately, the relay near the motor is short circuit, i guess someone played around w/ the wiring but didn't tell me. Now my biggest problem since this is that the ignition has gone, i think. it turns over but wont fire.
first key position shows battery, second position shows nothing on the instrument panel. starter motor and alternator turn over, fuel cut off switch is ok, but engine doesn't fire up.
consulted the wiring diagram, looks like either the ignition switch or the maxi fuse 80amps. thing is i don't know where the maxi fuses are. they aren't listed in Haynes.
