Be EXTREMELY greatful to anyone out there that could give me any guidance of share thier own experience of a similar problem!! Cheers! Marcello. m.dambrosio@zoom.co.uk

Have you drained any water from the filter?

hi - thanks for responding. not yet - haven't even located the filter as yet but planning to get stuck into it this weekend. I haven't worked on many diesels as I have only owned one before this one. Marcello.

OK, seeing as its a 93 model, I would suspect you have the more modern black plastic fuel filter. If memory serves correctly this is between the battery and the cylinder head. It should have 4 bolts holding on the lid of the filter. I have never drained one of these, but if its like most, it will have a tap on the bottom and a small run off hose. Open the tap, drain and close. If you need to, use the squeezy primer ball to pump more fuel in to the filter. Its important not to let air into the fuel system or it wont run, without bleeding the air back out. If the filter has not been changed within 15,000 miles I would do it at the same time. Use a good quality replacement, e.g. Purflux, as some of the cheap ones can restrict fuel flow retarding performance.
