I have to get some welding on my car to get it through its MOT, it has small (1p size) hole in the side sill near the rear wheel arch, and one from the front wheel arch to the engine bay under where the jack should go that is larger, about 5cm square. does anyone had any idea how much this is likely to cost me so i can tell if the guys are trying to take me for a ride or not when i get quotes

Well assume labour at £45 an hour? Don't get the hole in the seal welded up, get a new seal put on they are twenty quid a side. Make sure plenty of waxoyl is sprayed in to the section to prevent it happening again. This is just a guess but I shouldnt think more than £130 to sort you out, inc a new seal. (then you have to hammerite it or spray it, a good can from halfords will do!)
Anybody else got a price?
