My wife bought a 38,000 mile 205 GTi 1.6 3 years ago, it has now done 43,000, goes very well when it goes but starting is very unreliable.
The car has been given full dignostic checks by 2 bosch injection specialists with no improvement.
It has had new battery, starter motor, coil, plugs, ignition leads, altenator etc but still fails to start on a regular basis.
can you suggest a 205 specialist anywhere near Epsom in Surrey who might be able to sort it out?

Theres a common fault thats easy to sort, and costs you zilch. Theres a brown multiplug under or near the AFM that can be pulled apart and cleaned up. If this doesn't cure the problem, the next step is to get handy with your wiring skills as you need to reroute the starter cable motor to bypass something (Cant remember off hand but theres a guy over on PSOOC who knows exactly what's what). All 205 owners get this, and its a proper pain spending money on new starters etc, only to find its a simple wiring fault caused by low voltage.
Think this needs to be in the techy subforum......MODS!
