Hi all, Just found this forum, thought I'd post something I have an S reg 406 with a 2.1 TD XUD engine (not the HDI one) and, although I am pretty happy with it, I wonder if I can get some more power out of it. I have already replaced the air filter with a K&N one and am thinking of 'chipping' it. According to superchips, I can get up to 30bhp more by changing the ECU maps and how much diesel is delived at a particular rev point. Has anyone had any experiences with it and what could I expect from such an upgrade? Also, since I bought it nearly 2 years ago, the engine power seems to 'die' after about 3000 rpm. I am not sure whether that's how it's supposed to work but other diesel cars I have driven are happy to pull up to 4000 rpm. (This is also something I am hoping to improve on by chipping it). For example, if I am in first or second gear the car simply stops pulling after 3000rpm and I have to change up, but it seems OK in 4th and 5th gear to go beyond that. Any comments here? What other tweaks can I do to make the engine more powerful? Maybe adjust the wastegate on the turbo? Or some other diesel specific mods? All suggestions welcomed...! Thank you Alex

Not an expert by any means, but XUD engines use mechanical fuel injection. To get more power you need to get the turbo boost adjusted, a chip isn't going to help. Increasing the size of the oil and intercooler will also assist.

Talk to Gav at Dervdocter.co.uk, he's the daddy when it comes to dervs and will sort your probs/tuning issues with no worries and no BS. Get on over to www.psooc.com (sorry for the plug peeps) but thats the best place to find gav (galv on the psooc board) and at least you can talk to the people that have dealt with him!

chipping plus bigger intercooler[allard] plus free flow exhaust plus cold air induction is the way to go for impressive results
