Hi
The basic principle for most Peugeot diesels applies here. Yes you need the header tank, it can be as simple as a 2L pop bottle and rubber hosing. Ideally have the front of the car slightly raised, a couple of concreate blocks under each wheel should be enough. Open all the bleed screws, trace each hose to make sure you have not missed any.
You should use good quality long life coolant. Comma Coldsteam ready mixed is excellent, and also the Unipart version, these are both "Green" coloured 4 year life. The green stuff is more efficent that the basic blue, making it ideal for the alloy head.
OK make sure the drain tap is closed. Put the heater controls to HOT.
Fit the header bottle and seal it to the expansion tank so its water tight. Slowly trickle the new coolant in to the header. The slower the better to avoid air locks. Once full right up and the level in the header bottle is full too, keep it attached. This provides presure against the system. You need to close the bleeding screws as you start to see coolant flowing out without air.
The next stage is to start the engine. Keep it running at a fast constant rate, use a piece of folded cardboard to place against the accellerator stop on the fuel pump. You need to let the engine run at least 15 mins like this. The air left in the system will exit throught the header bottle. Dont think nothing is happening, it could take all that time to get the first explosion of air up through the bottle. Open the bleed screws again and check for air, and massage the radiator pipes if you can to help get any air out.
Once you are satisfied no more air is present, stop the engine, allow to cool, and remove the header tank. Fit the radiator cap, dont worry about it being over full, it will settle to its own level.
This is the "general" Pug Diesel method, to check you find all the bleeding points, consult a Haynes manual, free at the local library or CPUK can loan you one if you are a member I expect.
