OK I know the first thing some of you will say is there is no R reg 405 estate, but I can assure you we own one. We have an intermittent electrical problem with the no 2 fuse blowing. When it's ok everything seems fine, when it blows the airbag light comes on, and the fans( engine cooling) come on and the temp gauage on the dash fails to work. Our regular mechanic has had a look at it and has software etc with most wiring diagrams on, but it doesn't cover the 405 for this year. Neither do the Haynes manuals. We went to Peugeot in Bristol and the mechanic there wouldn't even beleive we had an R reg until he saw it for himself, needless to say they could not help. There seems to be no specific trigger to the fuse blowing, once it happened when the wipers were put on. once as we were going up a steep hill, and once when the car was running but stationary and someone happened to knock the steering wheel? Amazingly it never happened when we test drived it just before buying it a few weeks ago Grrrrrrr! Typical. If anyone can offer advice or tell us where we can get a wiring diagram for this car we would be really grateful. Many thanks.

I would guess that your 405 was hanging around a dealer for a bit before selling, hence the R plate. No dealer will have a spec for a 405 on that plate so you may well be best off going for a diagram for the last year of manufacture of your car, which will almost certainly be your car. Later Haynes manuals do not have a great reputation compared to earlier ones!

Even a Peugeot mechanic should know that the registration letter is just that: the year of registration, not the year of manufacture or the model year.
On the other hand, there is something magic called the serial number that provides year of manufacture, vehicle model, etc. Usually found on a plate within the engine bay!
