Does anyone know if the 307 HDI 110 will run without the particulate filter? This consumable is supposed to be replaced every 48000 miles (the display shows "Unblock Diesel Filter") and Peugeot seriously expect you to cough up £1023 + VAT (yes that's one thousand two hundred pounds!) for it. It's not even mentioned in the maintenance schedule (I wonder why!) and of course the salesman never mentioned it (cos' he'd never sell one if he did!). This makes the car completely unviable once its value depreciates to 3 or 4k. Be warned if you're thinking of buying a 110 . The 90bhp model doesn't have it.

Where abouts in the exhaust system is this, I have browsed the Citroen parts with a C4 with FAP and cant see a filter, just a water exchanger and recycling tube. The water exchanger is £96+vat.

Thanks 104ZS. Have followed your suggestion and will keep you posted.
504GLD: I believe it's somewhere in the catalytic converter. There's a fluid component to it and it's designed to burn away over a period of time. That's all I know.

Hi,
The FAP Filter is mounted directly behind the CAT, it feeds an additive into the exhaust system to clean up the particles found in diesel fumes. The filter itself should be replaced every 100,000 (not 50 !) miles. You cannot remove it as its monitored by the ECU, Hence the code. If the car is still under manufacturers warranty you should be able to get this replaced as it shouldnt go at 50,000 miles. I have seen many 307 FAP's go well over 100,000 with no problems and as such I think you have just been unlucky. Hope this helps

I don't know where your dealer got his prices from, that job with us is less than half that price. There is a 500 pound surcharge on the filter so maybe they left that on?? The service life of the filter is 48000 miles so the part hasn't failed so i'm afraid it will not be a warranty job. I've never tried but it may be worth asking the dealer to refill the additive tank and carry out a forced regeneration to try and unblock the filter, this not recomended but if it was my car thats th way i'd go!!
Regards Andy
