Hi,
I have not had a 306 XN (M reg 1994) for long, but I have a question that might be answered here.
A couple of weeks ago I had just come off a round about, in 2nd gear and accelarating, when the engine became sluggish and then died. Long story short RAC, arrive take a look and nothing found wrong. Fault seems to disappear on the drive to the garage, full service done and been fine for the last 2 weeks.
Now I have the same problem, can rev the engine fine but as soon as the clutch is lifted it dies. If I manage to get it moving and change up a gear the car is very sluggish and eventually stalls. Two RAC mechanic's and my local garage can't find the problem....can anyone help? Not sure if this is an inherent problem with 306's or just a general fault.

There could be a number of possible issues here, but my first thought is fuel starvation. I don't know what fuel filters are in the 306 but there could be one at the rear near the fuel tank and/or in the engine bay. Change it/them and see if an improvement is made. If they havent been changed for a long time then either its clogged up restricting fuel when its needed or the element has broken down clogging the path of the fuel. There could be a problem with the ECU have you had the fault codes read?
