Hello - Im new here, my name is Rob and I've just got a S reg 306 TD Sport. I've got a couple of questions which the Haynes doesn't appear to cover. First up, on cold start up it has a slight missfire, which disappears after about a minute. After that it runs fine. I've just given it some new heater plugs, all filters etc. I thought it may be an injector but I can't understand why it only does it when cold ? Secondly, the wipers - they work fine, but when turned off will stop right there, instead of returning to the bottom. Is there a microswitch or something that just needs replacing on the motor ? (It has a rain sensor if thats relevant).
If anyone has any advise it'd be much appreciated. Regards......Rob

Hi, I can't help you with the misfire but my guess with the wipers is that it either be the stalk switch at fault or likely something in the motor - the park device (whatever it's called!) is usually something inside the motor. Sorry I can't be more help. Mark

Thanks for the advice Mark, it was indeed something in the motor, I replaced it with another one and all is fine. I then stripped the old one and there was a 'Park Contact' that was bent and covered in dirt, I cleaned and straightened it and that one now works too!

You may have a slight air leek on one of the fuel unions, so when the car is parked over night, fuel slows runs back to the tank. Its obviously not enough to prevent starting but enough to mean one of the cylinders is self bleeding the air out before fuel is getting through that injector.
