For those that wish to know how to post images, here's how.
Pictures can be hosted either via your own hard drive or on a third party web site. if hosted on your own computer they will be unavailable any time youare not online so please try to avoid this.
There are many web sites that host online albums. I use photobucket (www.photobucket.com) but a quick google will turn up many alternatives.
Upload the images you wish to post. You should then see a linking url tag or img path to the image.
Copy and paste this into the body of your post to link the picture. Please note that thi sboard is case sensitive so your img tags should be "img" not "IMG"
Click on preview to see if it's worked. If so then post away!!
EDIT For the sake of forum users with dial up or smaller screens please try to keep images to a sensible size (640x480) Thanks

OK, I'm the first to admit I'm not the brightest guy in town, but surely there must be an easier way for us thick so and so's to pop a photo on here. Or is it just me? While I'm on, aren't the photos that are on here a bit large? (takes forever to download for those of us without broadband) And as I'm in whingeing mode, is there any chance of having the English version of the date? i.e. today is the 31/01/05 not 01/31/05. Other than that things are fab! Mike.

You can host images yourself by pasting the path to your image into the tag rather than the url of the image, however when you are offline the image will not be available. You can paste the URL of an image elsewhere on the internet in the same way, however some sites object to this as it steals their bandwidth.
Point taken about image size, I will edit down mine (it is a wee bit large) and add a note about image size to this thread.
The date is controlled by the your profile. Click on the profile link above and you will find a box that alows you to set the time + or - GMT. This is not global as the forum software allows for people from different countries.
Thanks for the comments. We seem to have more members coming online all the time (both club and not) so hopefully the activity levels will ramp up. I have a few ideas for Feb to keep things intereesting..watch this space.

Success at last!
I tried photobucket and several other sites without any luck, (or should I say any that were stupid proof) but found one that's easy even for me to use.
ImageVenue; it's really simple (it had to be for me to use it).

Dear Webmaster, could I suggest to limit the size of pictures to say 640x480?
I just looked at the 'members ride' section again and some of the pix are so big, it's silly... You'd need a 28" screen with a resolution of at least 1600x1200 to view them! Do we have unlimited space for the forum?

Good idea. The forum can't resize automatically so poster will have to be on there best behaviour. Starting with me!. I'm off to resize nine.
Thanks

I used to be a member of the montego/maestro owners website. there you could post your own personal "Avatar" this could be in the form of JPEG Pic' or Gif animation, and would remain on site independently once uploaded to it from ones own p.c. Why can't this be done with this site? and if not, can things be changed to allow it? Personal avatars can add a humourous and individual touch.

Kim You need to use a web based image host. See instructions above. Once you have your images uploaded you should have a box under each image detailing the path to that image. It will look something like "[ IMG ]http:web address of image goes in here[/ IMG ]" or "http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/fiveoftwo/car2.jpg" The former is best. The latter is used to link directly to an image on another wesite. Copy the text into your message. Make sure that the html tags are in place ( at the start and [\img] at the end. You can preview your post to check its all working. I have added spaces to the img tags in the example to make them show up in this post.

I tried Image venue, and yes it is easy to use. However, when I posted my image I found it had been surrounded with ads and links to porn sites, so swiftly deleted. Beware! (It was just a car - honest)
