I have a 406 GLX TD on an S plate (1998) It is fitted with a Roberts cassette and radio controlled via the steering wheel stalk. Is it possible to replace this with an after market CD/MP3 and still control the new unit via the stalk? I assume i would need new wiring?
Or can i replace the unit with a peugeot cd player, or can i just connect a cd changer unit in the boot and still control all from the stalk?
Sorry for the numerous questions but im being given various information!! Thanks Bob

Well, I believe 406s were fitted with Clarion stereos. I'm not sure whether stereos from different manufacturers are compatible in terms of remote control, but if yes is the answer, then you'd just need something compatible with Clarion units. Maybe car accessories retailers could give you information..

from wot I have read about with regard to fitting new stereos, most aftermarket manufacturers also sell adaptor wires that are suitable for connecting their stereos to the stalks, I know that Kenwood definatley do this, and therefore would assume other m/f do too. Probably best ask in the store u plan to buy ur radio from

Well i sorted out my radio, bought an Autoleads facia kit from ebay, for £4.99, CD/MP3 from kenwood for £84 and a module to connect it to the stalk control for £32.
Took 20mins to fit and now its perfect!!
