According to some of the paperwork I have read the HPi engine has three driving modes - Urban, Motorway and Sport. I am presuming that some of the other engines will have similar settings.
Was wondering whether it is possible to change this via one of the control stalks on the steering column. Or whether it had to go into the garage to have the computer reprogrammed.

So does this change the fuelling characteristics then? Never heard of being able to change engine modes at the flick of a switch unless it was a switchable ecu re-map or an auto gearbox setup. Interesting

Apparently some VWs and BMWs allow you to get access to the ECU management systems. On these cars the change is done before you start the engine.
The article I read showed three positions on a graph, so presumably the switch just sets you at A, B or C on the graph.
On last years top gear they showed them getting full access to an 8 series BMW, to the point of changing the BHP on the engine!

Yeah, didnt they have the M6 on there and you could alter pretty much everything on it from the BHP to suspension setup via a joypad thing in the centre console? I'd have it set to max everything!!!

Yeah that was the one. Looked fun but a bit too much like hard work setting it up...
