Hello from the United States. I just picked up a Peugeot 405 and have found American Peugeot sites to be pretty awful when it comes to information.
I bought the car from an aquaintence and knew little about it. He says the car was actually imported from Europe and legalized here in America. He claims that there are only 2 others like it in the US right now that he knows of. Supposedly, it's an Mi16 Rally Spec Edition. Now I've done a few searches around the internet and have yet to be able to find any information on the existence of such a car.
According to the previous owner, it was one of the few of these made to homologate the car for use in some select rally series. He says it's naturally aspirated and makes about 220hp.
I picked up the car for $400 USD (about 230 GBP). It needs a paint job, new tires, new battery, and the Recaro seats could stand to be re-bolstered. I have yet to drive the car as I am going to replace all the fluids and do a basic tune-up before it hits the streets. But I was hoping some fine folks on this forum could help me out with this car.
- What exactly sets the "Rally Spec" edition apart from regular 405's? - How many of this trim were ever made? - Does $400 sound like a fair deal for such a car?
Thank you in advance. I can't wait to get this car on the road!

This could be the 405 T16, which does produce 220bhp from a 2 litre 16v turbo engine with constant 4 wheel drive. There were 1050 produced. 405 Mi16 models sold in the US, did not have the turbo charged engine, these were sold in France and Germany. Do you have the turbo!! Road going cars will be 4 door saloon, on the very very slightest chance you have a 2 door coupe, then you've become a rich man indeed. These were the Paris-Dakar champion cars! www.auto-museum.net/vehicule/photo-1365-67-Peugeot+405+T16+Pikes+Peak+1988.htmlNormal T16 model details are here, with pics of the engine and owner review etc www.pugheaven.co.uk/T16.htmConsidering the price you paid, that would be good for any 405, let alone what you apparently seem to have got ! Can you post any pictures?

Thanks for the help! It is a 4-door car, and it was originally sold in France, then imported here to the United States sometime in the mid 90's. But what seems strange to me is that it is Left-Hand Drive. Now, I thought French cars were right-hand dive...but I admit I could be wrong. The car appears to have an aftermarket header (I have to take a closer look, but it appears to be an 8-5-2-1 header...almost like it's coming directly off the exhaust valves), which leads me to beleive it may have been at one point turbocharged. I'll be sure to take some photos and post them on here. And again, thanks for the information

All of Europe apart from England / Ireland are left hand drive.
