Hi, I own a 1984 B Reg 205 GTI with 77000 miles from new. I'm only its second owner, the first from new until 1999! Was just wondering how rare the car actually is? I cover around 500-1000 a year in it and keep it garaged the rest of the time! Has anyone actually owned or ever seen a 1984 205 GTI?

Hi Jake,
I cant tell you how rare it is by year, but by model the model common 205 sub designation there is! over 10,000. I cant remember though the last time I saw a B reg 205, let alone a GTI. Look after it is a classic. I see you are in Wiltshire, I hope you come to the Janspeed event in Salisbury, if your not a CPUK member we are introducing a day membership scheme for these kind of events. Mat.

Thanks will do! Yes I recently joined the club and will try and make the Salisbury event work permitting! Dont think I'll put the 205 on a rolling road though.. Dont like the idea of the engine being revved to redline on a ramp! Especially being 21 years old and never having had a rebuild.. Cheers, Jake

One of the press cars was an A plate GTI. Yours is also the 105 bhp small valve version too with the ungalvanised bits of the body, so look after it well. This is part of the reason you don't see early 205's now! It will probably have 305 wiper controls too
