My 405 1.9 GLX TD engine is in perfect working order. I have come across a strange noise though. It’s been on SORN for a year and has only recently been driven again (engine was run regularly when on SORN) but had a good wear in with a 200 mile drive. There were no problems on this drive or since, when it has been used regularly. When I accelerate, I notice a strange whooshing noise, usually when I’ve changed gear and accelerate considerably. If I’m just accelerating to change gear, it doesn’t do it; it’s when I put my foot down and give it some welly e.g. when going from a 30 zone to a 60 zone and or joining the motorway etc. It lasts the whole time I’m accelerating and when I reach the speed I want and release my foot from the pedal, it stops. It doesn’t seem to have any effect and I’ve been assured that it doesn’t mean I have a problem, I’d just love to know what it is!
Any ideas? Thanks.

Sounds like it may be the turbo. You can hear it on most turbo cars to some extent though it's normally more of a whistle than a whoose (or a sort of high pitched woosh if you will). That's perfectly normal.
