Hi All
Anybody kind enough to provide info as to how I get at the two instrument panel bulbs on the face lifted 205 dash board (1993).
I have Haynes manual covering the earlier dash, but mine is very different and proving difficult. Keep on saying "how hard can it be to replace a couple of bulbs", anybody PLEASE put me out of my misery.
Thanks
Dave

Long time since I did one but I`m sure its simple. Remove the thin plastic surround of the instrument cluster (couple of small screws). Then the screws for the cluster and pull it forward to gain access to the bulb holders which are push and turn in the printed circuit on the back. If my memory is correct? the problem is the speedo cable? make sure it locates properly when refitting the cluster.

Hi
Thanks for your quick & kind response.
Given time was not on my side (MOT shortly) I had another go at it this afternoon. From your description I rather think your experience has been on the early dash board and it fits in with the Haynes manual description. On my dash there are no small screws in the instrument cluster cowling.
It has been necessary to remove the whole top cowling to get at the bulbs. If any poor soul has to do this please ask for more info, but briefly :-
1. Prise out the centre trapexium shape top cover and remove two screws behind. 2. Remove heater controls/panel and screws behind. 3. Looking at right top side of cowling, back off Torx screw (just visible through hole). 4. Remove bottom panels to get at under-face of steering column and release two recessed screws clamping top & bottom cowlings together. 5. The top cowling is now free but due to the clock & trip reset push rods you are unable to lift vertically and your limited by the steering wheel to move it forward. 6. Either remove steering wheel or back off the column clamps to lower the wheel (I took second option). 7. Now remove the top cowling. 8. You can now simply replace the two 12v-1.2 watt capless bulbs on the circuit board.
I am a retired HGV fitter and frankly I would have been well on the way to getting a 12 litre truck engine out in the total time I have spent on experimenting/replacing two little bulbs LOL.
Thank you very much for your support.
Dave
