First post here - so quick intro: Brit in France, searching for a j7/9 to convert (or modify an existing) into a camper for 2. Wanting to fit an XD3TE and 5 speed with the longer final drive for easier cruising. These vans, esp the j7, look so dinky, but they have fantastic interior space for their foot print and after looking at pretty much every option made between 1960 and today they're by far the best answer to our requirements, with the VW LT tdi (last of the first cab-forward series) being a close second, until you look at the parts supply/price in comparison to the j series in France.
They make VW combies look like the cramped under-powered and poorly packaged vans that they are, and the j7 has just as much if not more 'cool' factor, should it matter.
Question:
Does anyone know, other than the obvious addition of an intercooler, whether there are any other significant differences between the XD3T and the XD3TE?
I'm wondering if by just adding an intercooler to an XD3T you get most of the power increase of an XD3TE or whether Peugeot made other big changes to gain the performance.
Thanks and hope someone can help.
Nick

The xd3 is the maximum engine for the vans. A turbo does NOT fit in the engine bay.

well my j7 has been running an XD3TE for almost a year now and it's not the only one I know of. You just have to get creative.
