My alarm system has been corrupted after battery disconnections. I have tried several recommended resets but none of them work. I'm told my BSI unit needs replacing but at £ 1000.00 plus that seems a lot. Any ideas?

Did you go through the battery disconnection and reconnection procedure ? if not it may just need a BSi reset? doubt very much if it needs a new one. Just Google 205 BSi reset and follow the instructions.

Hi Oldpug,
I checked the re start procedure I have used in the past against the procedure you suggest. It is exactly the same procedure.
I have tried it 5 or 6 times but with no success. I have not let the battery rest for 3 minutes as you suggest so I will try that.
I did take the car to the local Peugeot main dealer and they quoted me around £ 1000.00 for a new BSI unit claiming the existing one had failed. Perhaps they would say that wouldn't they.
Incidentally, the lock/alarm system partially works. Click to lock sets the alarm, lock's and immobilises the doors but unlock only disables the alarm. The doors remain locked and immobilised until the key is used to manually unlock both passenger and driver doors. I had to unplug the boot lock release switch because it would not lock, unlock or disable the alarm.
Finally, there are at least two companies claiming they can repair the BSI units. Bit I have been told quite clearly that would not work as the ECU and BSI have to be equally and precisely coded. Only by finding a crashed car with undamaged BSI and ECU's would I be able to restore the system to full working order. But how to you establish working order in a scrapyard?
Thanks for your comments. I'll let you know how I get on.
