I am sure we've all seen the advert for the 206, with the lad whose robbing the bank. Nice to see a trend in Peugeot advertising using their own 'classic' cars. If you failed to notice, the boys dad is driving a 504 Estate, although badly disguised on a new "R" plate.
Does anybody know this car, the assumption it is just a made up plate, or was it an import from late African production?
On a similar note the previous "Shame" 307 advert had loads of disguised models, I think the car ploughing throught the crop field was a 504 saloon. The one in the multi-story car park a 505 and under the tree a 405.
Mat.

Yeah I remember seeing the older add and thinking "that's a 305" (the car ploughing into the field. Makes sense though, you don't want to advertise other companies cars in your ad. Probably why so many car ads are shot in America even though the car is not available in the US as all the crs around it will not be competitors models.
Also I notice a lot of ads shot in South Africa, many around Cape Town, where I used to live, the cost is so low that it's cheaper to ship everyone out than do the ad here!

Well, Peugeot is not always trying to hide their old models. I'm thinking of their very recent press campaign in France, for the 307. In one double page example, you have a guy hiding his face behind a mask while next to a 504Coupé. The slogan: "don't be ashamed of your car". Not sure self-derision is the best ad...

Saw the ad for the first time last night. A few mixed messages going on in there I think.
Anyway the 504 estate is done up to look old, was probably a scrapper on its last legs given a quick blow over for the ad. TV hides plenty of sins!
I guess the plate is designed to simply make the whole ad age non specific. All cars in ads seem to have personal plates in order to do this.
Still a fun ad though if you're an older pug enthusiast. I think most people would not even recognise the 504 as a Peugeot.

Not sure it's a good idea to pick on of the pretiest cars that Peugeot made as a car to be "ashamed of" either, maybe a 305. Anything older is too stylish!

305 is an old car! Far more chic than an Escort of the same vintage.

The 305 was a great car. To the risk of shocking many, it was the best of all 5 Peugeot I've owned. I had the 305 "base" (French LHD) model which had the 1.3l engine of the 304. It never ever broke down in the 7 years I owned it (unlike my 2 x 406 Coupé and their electronic crap). Did over 120k miles with my 1st engine and then put a 2nd-hand 1.5l engine in it when my clutch packed in (2nd-hand engine cost the same as a brand new clutch!). When I got rid of it to buy my 1st 406, it was over 13 years old and had done another 60k miles on its 2nd engine. The only thing wrong with it at the end was the driver's door which had small rust perforation in the middle. The rest was perfect. It was reliable, simple and you could fix nearly anything on it yourself.
