I was reading that Peugeot see no future in the petrol engine and were looking to be the first major comapny to offer only diesel engines on all there crs. i know they are entering diesel engined racers in LeMans this year and the fast versions of the new 207 will be diesel.
Good Idea?

Those were Andrew Didlicks words at our AGM (he's a Peugeot UK director), and I think they are seriously looking at it long term as diesel engines can run on all sorts of fuel i.e. veg oil.

i think that it is a great idea, although they do need to do some proper testing with alternative biofuels to make sure they work properly

I think this might be a very good idea... as the petrol engine they put in mine appears to have been engineered and designed by chimps! Though i actually think a chimp could do a better job.

Most derv engines, including past and present pugs will run on a 5% veg mix.
There are a few Derv engines out at the mo that are faster in top speed and 0-60 than the equivalent petrol. (Fiat Panda and Kia Rio for example)

99% of diesel you buy at the pump to EN950 is 5% veg, as it lubricates the pump as everything is now low sulpher.

The new 407 coupé that Peugeot brought along to the CPUK rolling Road day last saturday points the wat forward I think. one of the other attendees brought a 406 V6 3 litre, the 407 was a 2.7 HDi and probably out performs the V6 plus gives way better milage. I bet it doesn't sound half as nice or feel nearly as sporty though!

Is that the same as the Renault Laguna engine? Brohter has one of those and he rates it.
