I am looking to upgrade/replace the current head unit in my 96 605. However, I am very aware that it is not a standard size what with the display and the open/close and power buttons.
Mine is the less advanced tape machine without the cd player.
Does anyone know where I can get an adapter to make a standard unit fit. Any short cuts, or any units that fit the gap?
Thanks
Adam.

The kit should be available straight from Peugeot. Best is to pay a visit to the parts receptoin of your local dealer.

So obvious yet totally unthought of!
However, as if to twist things a little further, I have checked on several parts sites and accessories suppliers, and they don;t believe a facia adapter is required!
I think a trip to peugeot may be required to either confirm or deny this, or to find our how to extract my existing unit.
Unless anyone knows how to extradct the existing unit. In which case i'll be able to work out the facia problem myself!
Thanks again.

Good luck. Many UK dealerships are already forgetting the 605 ever existed.

You dont need a fascia adaptor but you do need a harness adaptor for the wiring. www.autoleads.co.uk/database/605.htmlwww.autoleads.co.uk/database/productImages/PC2-06-4.jpgyou can get the lead from halfords for about 12 or 13 quid. Alternatively you could order the lead from just about any motorfactor for about half that. Im not sure about getting the old unit out tho. If you get stuck you can usually get your local peugeot dealer to remove it for you for a fiver - you just have to be a bit cheeky. Hope this helps elephants_uk@hotmail.com

As above I bought an ISO lead from Halfords. The Stereo I had was a Clarion, sorry unsure of model number. It is the one with the black face/display when you hit the power button the face/ display folds down allowing you to put cassette tapes in. to remove this unit, you will need to press the button until face drops on the left and right side you will see the holes where you push the keys in to pull unit out. in my case I pushed in 4 long nails to release the clipps then I prised the stereo out....
From halfords I then purchased a plastic surround / case that my Sony x-plod fitts in. an ISO connector for Sony to 605.... and last but not least Halfords supply a lead which fits between the 605 Aerial connector to the Sony Headunit......
Bit of a strange one as the aerial lead this also fits Jap motors... Forget the part number however i'll try and dig it out and add it later......
