Hello, I have recently bought a 1994 1.8 Junior D 205. It has only done 74,000 miles. I have only done 200 miles in it so far. I have noticed that on two occasions I can feel juddering/shaking through the gear stick and steering wheel. It seems to get worse for about 10-15 seconds and then subsides and everything is back to normal. I can also hear (i think to the drivers side) a feint whining noise like a wheel bearing. Would the wheel bearing cause the intermittent juddering or would it be something else? When the brakes are applied the steering wheel does judder very slightly. Could the problem be anything to do with the brakes even though according to a receipt I have they were checked and reassembled by a garage only two months ago? Apart from this irritating fault I am very happy with my first Peugeot. If it helps on both occasions when the fault has occurred I have been traveling at about 50-60 mph. As I say the fault is intermittent and I can travel at 50-60mph normally without any problems. I also have a receipt from the last owner dated March 07 showing the car as having 4 new tyres, all balanced and 4 wheel tracking done so hopefully it wont be that. Please help.

Hi
Juddering? I would have thought if it were balance it would be noticeable at critical speeds, wheel bearings are easy to check. Jack up wheel hold wheel and feel for movement then try again with someone putting brakes on, if there is detectable movement that disappears with brakes on then its the wheel bearings, have you thought about CV joint? as if if is not lubricated it could give juddering taking up drive, does juddering get worse with full lock on the steering?
hope this is of use
