Hello everyone, I have just bought a 205 XS 1.1 B reg. I am new on here, have just bought the car as a run around and what to know a bit more about it.
I need to change the front wheel bearings and I have bought a set for the front. Being that I have only changed rear wheel bearings I would like some advice and or diagrams as to how you do the front ones.
I know the rear ones are a case of pressing the bearing from the brake drum (as with most cars), but the front are part of a hub assembly of some description. I do not have the haynes manual for the car yet and wondered if anyone can advise me on where to get a diagram of the front wheel/hub assembly? I have the tools to do the job, but just need an exploded diagram of the front hub assembly to size up the job.
Many Thanks
Simon

it would be alot easier to remove the hubs and take them to a local garage and get them to fit them they should only charge you for about and hours labour.

Hi there, I think frank is probably right, you see the 205 front wheel bearings are of the sealed type (correct me somebody if I'm wrong) - typically found on more modern cars. The disadvantage of this is I think you need to remove a circlip and possibly (if they are seized in place) you will need to press the bearings out using some force. All this inevitably leads to having to remove the whole hub assembly. I have done this on a Citroen ZX (which incidentally uses identical front bearings to the 205). Its not too much of a hard job, it just takes a little patience. Hope this doesn't dissuade you!!!
