Hi,
I've recently bought a 1995 (N) 605 SVE and have been greatly impressed. On a few occasions, the key wouldn't turn in the ignition barrel (the steering lock was not engaged) but after a few attempts it turned. However, at the weekend it stuck again and won't budge. I've just been quoted £112 from Pug dealer for the switchbarrel, plus another £130 for fitting, re-coding, and VAT. Is there a cheaper alternative (e.g. by-passing the ignition switch with a simple on/off switch and start button?
Incidentally, why are 605s frequently omitted from PUG sites?

Incidentally, why are 605s frequently omitted from PUG sites? Possibly because so few sold outside France. The 605, despite being an excellent car, was a commercial failure (reliability issues in early years, price too high, market dominated by German cars especially in Britain). I don't even think you can find a technical book in English!

Yeah, I can understand that as I also own a Renault Alpine (simple ignition switch - though!).
