205 GTI Idle issue

Hi guys

My 205 has developed a wonky idle, what happens is it hunts up and down from nearly 2000 rpm to stalling when cold and once it warms up it wobbles around at roughly 1300rpm. I've tried to adjust the idle speed and the throttle sensor but i just cant get it to idle at anything below 1300 without stalling out.

Any idea what it could be?

I got the same problem with my gti but iv been told you have to play with the air flow mixture thingy(not sure of proper name) but i tryed it on mine and didnt change a thing but i tuned tickover down and not as bad now

It could be your airflow meter but also try cleaning all the pipes that carry air.a common 205 problem

also check the dipstick seal is in one piece something everyone misses that is. cause it like to breath to much and make them rum pants
