Dunno if it is or not, but looks a bit like the early 205 steering rack that I had to change on my previous car. It had a splined join to link it to the steering collumn, which on later models was changed to a square cross section join. I had to swap half the steering column on my old car because the splines wore at the join leaving too much wear.
It could however come from another car of the same sort of age as I expect that their engineering design processes carry trends on from one car to another.
