hi - am a new member - great site - I have a 205 grd that i've done 356,890 miles in, so know them quite well...just come up for it's first clutch change - have just acquired a 205 sceptre 1993 TD - superb beast - but what's the spec diff between this and a 93 stdt? are there any engine/gearbox diffs, or is it just suspension? apart from the obvious trim diffs! (I hate elec windows anyway...)
could some kind soul spell out what exactly are the mech spec differences between a stdt and a DTurbo or a td?
cheers, Rob

Hey, thats a pretty impressive mileage! I am way behind you at 240K :-)
I have a theory that the XUD7 has a better chance than the XUD9 of reaching a high mileage without head gasket trouble because the smaller bore allows better cooling between cylinders. Anyone else like to comment?

I'm new to this site but not to 205's I have 2 STDT's and have had a standard turbo and to my knowledge there is no difference and it runs on heating oil quite happily for the last 18 months @ 60p/ltr cheaper than veg oil and no stink!!

I have both a Sceptre and an STDT. Engine power seems the same, although the STDT turbo seems to get going sooner. However the clutch and steering is much heavier on the STDT. The Sceptre rolls more and feels less stable on the road, probably due to a softer suspension and smaller tyres. Will try heating oil but suspect that it needs some sort of additive to avoid lubrication problems with the fuel pump.

Veetail is right. Heating oil is not the same as diesel fuel and you will eventually ruin the injection pump due to lack of lubrication. How much will that cost? Apart from that, it is not wise to admit to evading fuel excise duty on a public forum. Donaldiesel
