Hey all,
Me 405 I've had trouble with for the past 3 months has finally died and blown the head gasket, pressurising the radiator and blowing that too, plus the air leak is still there in the fuel injector pump.
So I havent got the time or the patience to fix it up, so gonna probably get a Xantia (sorry but its all I can find at the moment in my price range). Problem is its non turbo 1.9 so a tad sluggish.
Could I simply take the turbo off the 405 and whack it on the Xantia? After-all its the same engine roughly the same age, how easy is it to do? Or am I simply being too ambitious?
All help would be most appreciated.
Cheers,
Shaun

Don`t even think about it!there are lots, mainly inside the engine, that are different and stronger to cope with the turbo.Live with it [and an extra 10-15mpg] then when your wallet is full get a 306TD.

compression ratio would be the biggest single issue. you'd blow holes in your pistons at the very least. worst case scenarios don't bear thinking about, but probably belong on Hammond's 'Brainiac'... Entertaining from a distance! If you're going to think about it, then get the whole lot from a scrapper. engine, turbo, intercooler, black boxes, the lot. prolly the harness too... I've got a 405 GLTD that was lovely until mr bmw stuffed it up the rear at a red traffic light. the loss adjuster is looking at it today, i can try and find out where it's going if you like?
