Hi, which version of 1.1 do you have? Pre-88 with gears in the sump or post with a bolt on gearbox?

If you want new, it looks like its main dealer or specalists like Dean Hunter, www.peugeotparts.co.uk . (I can tell you the Citroen price for a AX1.1 same engine is a staggering £59.89+vat). I cannot see any 3rd party part listed for this, unlike some other Peugeot models. You could just get from very cheaply from a scrap yard, with luck as most of the cars with a TU motor will be small, they will be piled on top of another car. This will make acessing the underside to wip one off very easy. The TU motor is used in 106, 205, 206, 309, 405 (1.4), also Citroen AX, BX14.

Thanks for the expert advise. It is indeed a common engine and I eventually tracked down a warrantied (sic ?) second-hand part through Breakeryard.com. This after phoning several scrapyards with what you would have thought was a request for moondust.
BTW I lived for several years in Africa where the model of Peugeot you picture has enjoyed many years as a reliable taxi and workhorse. They live on and I always fancied one.
